Wichita Wind Surge News Release
WICHITA, Kansas - In conjunction with Major League Baseball, the Wichita Wind Surge announced the team's 138-game schedule for the 2022 season.
The season opens on Friday, April 8, and the Wind Surge will host their "Sister City," the Tulsa Drillers. The opening series at Riverfront Stadium will be a three-game set, the only three-games series at home during the entire season. All remaining home series will be six games in length, similar to 2021.
All but one home series will begin on Tuesday and end on Sunday, with the exception being a series against the Amarillo Sod Poodles, which will begin on Monday, July 4th followed by an off day on Tuesday with the series continuing on Wednesday. This marks the first time the Wind Surge will play at home on July 4.
The regular-season schedule runs through Sunday, September 18th, with the Wind Surge concluding their regular season home games on Sunday, September 11th.
The Wind Surge will face off against several Texas-based teams in the AA Central League for the first time in franchise history in 2022, with home-and-home series against the Corpus Christi Hooks, affiliate of the Houston Astros, Frisco RoughRiders, affiliate of the Texas Rangers, and San Antonio Missions, affiliate of the San Diego Padres.
The Surge visit the Hooks from May 24-29 and host the Hooks at Riverfront Stadium from August 9-14. The RoughRiders visit Wichita May 31-June 5, and the Surge head to Frisco August 23-28. San Antonio visits Riverfront Stadium on June 21-26, with Wichita visiting San Antonio August 2-7.
Details on 2022 season tickets will be available in the coming weeks, while game times, individual game tickets, and the season's promotions will be released at a later date.
