Travelers Announce 2022 Schedule
August 25, 2021 - Texas League (TL)
Arkansas Travelers News Release
The Arkansas Travelers in conjunction with Major League Baseball and the Double-A Central have announced their schedule for the 2022 season. Friday April 8 marks the start of the campaign with the Travs kicking things off with a three game weekend series in Frisco against the RoughRiders. The home opener comes just three days later when the Springfield Cardinals visit Dickey-Stephens Park on Monday April 11.
Of the 138 game slate, 69 will be at home. That includes a six game series to close out the regular season which again ends on Sunday September 18. Independence Day marks the only holiday that the Travs will host a game with the Springfield Cardinals serving as the opponent that night. The basic schedule format is similar to what has been utilized during the 2020 season with six game series against one opponent and nearly every Monday serving as an off day. There is also a four day break in the schedule from July 18-21 coinciding with the Major League Baseball All-Star break.
46 of the 69 home games occur on either a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday with 12 games each on a Friday and Saturday. By month, the Travelers will host 11 games in April, 13 in May, 12 in June, nine in July, 18 in August and six in September.
Arkansas will play each of their nine league rivals over the course of the year with eight clubs visiting North Little Rock. The Springfield Cardinals will be the most common opponent matching up against the Travelers in four series (two home, two away) for a total of 24 games. The in-state rival Northwest Arkansas Naturals and Wichita Wind Surge will also play 12 games each at Dickey-Stephens Park with the Travs making just one return trip to their ballparks. Arkansas will play 12 games in Tulsa while the Drillers play only one six game series in North Little Rock.
From the south division, the Travs will take on Frisco a total of 18 times (nine home, nine away) and match up with the Amarillo Sod Poodles, Corpus Christi Hooks and Midland RockHounds a total of 12 times each in one series at home and one on the road. The only club that will not visit Dickey-Stephens is the San Antonio Missions with the only six game series against them taking place on the road.
Game times, promotions and giveaways will be announced at a later date.
