
Williamsport wins fifth straight

The Williamsport Crosscutters picked up their fifth consecutive win In comeback fashion with a five run eighth inning. Rob Tasin picked up his league leading 11th save in the process, surviving a two run rally from Staten Island on Friday night. The 7-6 win secures the series sweep for Williamsport as they open a two game series with Mahoning Valley at home on Saturday. Williamsport remains in first place in the Pinckney Division with a five and a half game lead over State College.
The Crosscutters offense took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning against Yankees starter Ethan Carnes. Jesus Posso singled and Jan Hernandez would follow that up with a double to put two winners into scoring position.
Austin Bossart brought in the Cutters first run reaching on an error by the shortstop. Luis Espiritu brought in the second run with a sacrifice fly to right field.
Williamsport would have to rally against the Yankees after seeing the game get tied 2-2 and then falling behind 4-2 in the fourth inning. Denton Keys and Skylar Hunter did their best to keep the Cutters in the game by tossing four shutout innings out of the bullpen. Williamsport rallied in the eighth inning against the Staten Island bullpen as they scored five runs on four hits. Josh Tobias gave the Cutters a 5-4 lead with his third home run of the season, plating three runs. Two batters later Posso delivered a two run home run to make it 7-4.
The Yankees would rally against Rob Tasin in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring a pair of runs to make it 7-6.
Tasin would record his 11th save of the season getting a ground out to end the game. Hunter moved to 3-2 on the season with the win and Austin Bossart extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a two hit night and his on base streak to 22 games. The 18 games is the longest streak this season for any player.
