Wild Wins Third Straight, Defeats Rampage 2-1

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Wild (25-25-6-4, 60 points) defeated the San Antonio Rampage (25-28-3-6, 59 points) 2-1 in front of 5,981 fans at the Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday. Wild defenseman Steven Kampfer scored with 5:09 remaining in regulation, breaking a 1-1 tie and pushing Iowa in front. Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson (11-13-2) picked up his third straight win by stopping 27 of 29. Rookie forward Raphael Bussieres also scored, as Iowa improved to 11-15-3-1 at home. San Antonio goalie and Iowa native, Scott Clemmensen (1-5-0) stopped 30 of 32. The Wild continues a six-game homestand on Wesdnesday, Mar. 19 at 7:05 P.M. against the Texas Stars.

Iowa scored the period's lone goal off a transition play that started with a save by goalie Johan Gustafsson. Defenseman Corbin Baldwin swept the rebound from the crease around the boards to forward Raphael Bussieres. The Iowa rookie carried the puck through center and into the San Antonio slot. Bussieres snapped a wrist shot past the outstretched glove of Rampage goalie Scott Clemmensen. His fifth goal of the year gave Iowa a 1-0 lead at 14:30.

San Antonio tied the game at 6:24 of the second period off a tip by forward Anthony Luciani. He dropped a pass inside the Iowa blueline for Jed Ortmeyer, who stepped into a slapshot. Luciani tipped the puck on its way to the net, sending the shot past Gustafsson for the 1-1 tie. The goal was his first of the year.

Late in the third period, Iowa defenseman Steven Kampfer joined the rush and netted his sixth goal of the year at 14:51. Captain Jake Dowell carried the puck down the left-wing wall and slipped a pass to Kampfer. The Wild defenseman rifled a wrist shots past Clemmensen from the high-slot, giving Iowa a 2-1 lead.

The team continues a six-game homestand on Wednesday, Mar. 19 at 7:05 p.m. against the Texas Stars. Fans that bring a Subway Receipt to the Wells Fargo Arena box office will receive a $5 ticket to the game. Iowa also welcomes Grand Rapids (3/21 and 3/22) and Charlotte (3/25 and 3/26) over the six-game stretch. This upcoming weekend, the Wild celebrates Go Green Weekend, presented by MidAmerican Energy. The Iowa Wild encourages fans to bring an eco-friendly cleaning product to donate at the door for Habitat for Humanity. Fans that make a donation will be rewarded with a free ticket to a future home game and a MidAmerican eco-friendly bag. Friday is also a $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus: Fans may purchase $2 10-ounce beers through the first period. Also on Friday, the American Red Cross Night is selling mystery pucks (signed by a mystery Iowa Wild player) at tables on the north and south concourse of Wells Fargo Arena. A select number of pucks will include bigger prizes and the proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross of Greater Iowa. On Saturday, the team celebrates Faith and Family Day with a 1:05 p.m. faceoff against the Griffins. The Wild welcomes local faith groups for Faith and Family Day. All fans who have a ticket to the game are invited to stay for a special live acoustic set performance by Matt Baird following the game at Hy-Vee Hall C. Fans may also grab a Subway Family Four Pack, which includes 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas, 4 Subway coupons starting at $44.
