
P-Bruins Defeat the Wolf Pack 3-2 in Overtime

Providence, R.I. - The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack by a final score of 3-2 today in overtime at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Niklas Svedberg made 27 saves in the game. The goal scorers for the P-Bruins were Matt Lindblad, Seth Griffith, and Alexander Khokhlachev.
Matt Lindblad got the first goal of the game at 21 second mark into the opening period. Anthony Camara had the assist on the play as Lindblad shot a wrist shot from the right circle getting the puck past Dov Grumet-Morris. It was Lindblad's 8th goal of the year. The Bruins scored again this time on the power-play at 3:38 into the period with a goal by Seth Griffith. It was Griffith's 19th goal of the year and assists went to Craig Cunningham and Zach Trotman. The period ended with the P-Bruins leading the Wolf Pack 2-0 with shots being 14-9 in favor of the P-Bruins.
The Wolf Pack got on the board at 10:22 into the second period with a goal by Michael Haley. It was Haley's 6th goal of the year as he jammed the crease and was able to get the puck past Niklas Svedberg. The goal was assisted by Conor Allen and Darroll Powe cutting the P-Bruins lead in half at 2-1. The period was filled with physical play and plenty of scoring chances for both teams. The period came to a close with the shots being 23-21 for the P-Bruins as they entered the third period with a 2-1 lead.
At 19:06 into the third period Jesper Fast was able to tie the game at 2 apiece. Aaron Johnson assisted Fast, who tipped a deflection in past Svedberg. The Wolf Pack pulled their goalie to get the extra attacker and were able to capitalize. Despite a combination of a strong fore-checking game and solid defensive play, the P-Bruins were unable to close out the game. At the end of the third period the shots were 35-28 in favor of the P-Bruins with a tie score of 2-2.
In the overtime period Alexander Khokhlachev scored the game winner at 2:21. Seth Griffith carried the puck into the zone and Khokhlachev came up creating a 2-1 advantage. Griffith sent a floating pass over to Khokhlachev who snapped the puck in behind Grumet-Morris. It was Khokhlachev's 19th goal of the year. The P-Bruins won 3-2 in the overtime period with shots being 39-29 in favor of the P-Bruins.
The P-Bruins were 2 for 6 on the power play and 7 for 7 on the penalty kill. Niklas Svedberg made 27 saves on shots 29 while Dov Grumet-Morris saved 36 on 39 P-Bruins shots.
