Bulldogs Fall to Marlies 4-1

TORONTO, ONTARIO - Three unanswered third-period goals by the Toronto Marlies were the undoing of the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon as the 'Dogs fell 4-1 to the Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario.

Bulldogs forward Justin Courtnall opened the scoring at 11:36 of the first period when he took a pass from forward Joonas Nattinen, drove to the net and slid the puck past Marlies goaltender Christopher Gibson.

Toronto forward Greg McKegg struck back on the power play less than two minutes later, with assists from forwards Spencer Abbott and Josh Leivo.

After a scoreless second period, Marlies forward Sam Carrick scored 6:08 into the third period to give Toronto a 2-1 lead. Forwards Jamie Devane and Jerred Smithson had assists.

Just over halfway through the third period, McKegg potted his second goal of the afternoon, assisted by Leivo and Abbott, to make it a 3-1 game.

D'Amigo added an empty-net goal with 90 seconds to go to seal it for Toronto, 4-1, with an assist from Smithson.

Robert Mayer made 21 saves on 24 shots for the Bulldogs in the loss. Gibson made 33 saves on 34 shots for the Marlies in the win.

Hamilton went 0-for-2 on the power play, while Toronto went 1-for-2.
