June 4 will be the first meeting of the season for the two clubs. Last year the Wild Things took four out of six from the Miners in the season series, including a series sweep of Southern Illinois June7-9.
Last year's series with the Miners were all low-scoring contests, and the Wild Things averaged just 2.8 runs per game. Washington outscored Southern Illinois 17-15 in the series.
Friday, June 8 the Wild Things welcome the Normal CornBelters to CONSOL Energy Park for a three-game set to conclude the homestand. This series will also mark the first time the two clubs will meet in the 2012 season. The Cornbelters took the season series four games to two last year.
Mitch Dening looks to continue to stay hot for the Wild Things as the club returns home. Over his past five games, Dening has hit .333 (4-for-12) with one home run, three RBI's and three runs scored.
Shain Stoner and Matt McConnell, the club's leaders in OPS and on-base percentage, respectively, will also be key for the Wild Things as they attempt to win back-to-back games after snapping their recent skid. Stoner has been productive in the Wild Things lineup over the club's past five games as well, going 5-for-17 over that stretch. He's also been hit by a pitch a league leading seven times this season.
Robbie Garvey currently sits tied for second in the league in stolen bases with six entering Tuesday night's matchup.
