River City Rascals News Release

Florence, Ky. - The Freedom's Alec Lewis allowed four hits, two in the ninth inning of a pitchers dual, but held on to finish the complete game with a 2-1 win putting River City in the loss column for the second-straight game.

Edwards (1-2) walked four in the first two innings but trailed just 1-0 after three innings in which the Freedom stranded seven runners on base, five in scoring position. Edwards allowed a lead-off walk to score on a one out single that followed a sacrifice hit.

River City (12-4) would post two hits in the first eight innings, and Lewis (2-2) faced one over the minimum until the ninth.

Florence (8-8) added an insurance run in the ninth off Edwards and a two-out single off of Brandon Cunniff to make the score 2-0. After a pair of groundouts, Eric Williams extended his on-base streak to a league-high 16 games with a single to left and he raced to third on an error in the corner. Jeremy Synan would follow with a single up the middle to close the gap to 2-1, but Jason Patton grounded back to the pitcher as the late-inning comeback would fall short.

River City is back in action tomorrow at 6:05 CT as Preston Vancil (1-1, 4.50) takes the ball against the Freedom's Daniel DeSimone (1-1, 5.23). You can hear the live action on westplexnewstalk.com and 1280 AM.
