Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

WICHITA, KS - The Lincoln Saltdogs' bats went cold on the road Friday, as the Wichita Wingnuts defeated the Dogs 6-2 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. Lincoln falls to 9-12 on the season.

Lincoln scored both of its runs in the first inning, on an RBI double by Shea McFeely and a run-scoring groundout by Steve Alexander. The double was the only hit of the frame, though, and Wichita starter Gabe Medina (3-2) gave up just two more hits over the next six innings. The Saltdogs put two runners on base in an inning only once more the rest of the night.

Wichita, meanwhile, took the lead in the bottom of the first inning on a pair of walks and a three-run homer by Joe Muich. The Wingnuts added three more in the third against Lincoln starter Vince Davis (0-3), on Josh Horn's RBI single and a two-run homer by Kelly Hunt. Davis settled down after that, allowing just two hits over his final 2.2 innings pitched, but the damage had been done.

McFeely ended the night 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, the only Lincoln player to have more than one hit. Albenis Machado drew three walks in his four plate appearances and scored a run.

The two teams play game two of their three-game series Saturday night at 7:05pm. Righty Brian Campbell will make the start for Lincoln.
