Another solid start from Gabe Medina and a three-run homer by C Joe Muich carried Wichita to a 6-2 win over Lincoln. The Wingnuts have won three straight. Medina surrendered just three hits over seven innings while striking out six. Richard Salazar pitched two strong innings to finish the game for Wichita, allowing just one hit. DH Kelly Hunt also homered for the Wingnuts and 1B Steve Pearson went 2-for-3 with a base on balls. Lincoln starter Vince Davis had a rough outing allowing six earned runs in 5 2/3 innings. He dropped to 0-3 with the loss.

Sioux City 6, St. Paul 5

Down 3-1 after an inning, Sioux City rallied to take a 6-5 lead after five innings. The Explorers bullpen made it stand up by striking out eight batters in the final four innings and allowing just one hit. Griffin Bailey went three innings and struck out six before handing the ball to closer Brett Reid who fanned two of the three men he faced in the ninth inning for his sixth save. Lf Justin Nelson led the Explorers offense with a 2-for-4 performance including a homerun, two runs scored, and three RBI.

El Paso 4, Ft. Worth 2

LF Tyler Johnson's two-run homer to left gave El Paso a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning and the Diablos went on to defeat Fort Worth by a 4-2 final. Josh Neitz turned in a solid pitching performance for El Paso allowing just two earned runs on six hits in six innings of work. He got the win to move to 1-0 on the season. Ryan Riddle went 5 2/3 innings for the Cats but allowed all four Diablo runs and took the loss to fall to 1-2. LF Adam Hale had a good night at the plate for El Paso with two hits, a walk, and a run scored.

Grand Prairie 12, Pensacola 5

Grand Prairie put up seven runs in the third inning and cruised to a 12-5 win over Pensacola. After a shaky first three innings by Cody Crowell the Airhogs got things settled down thanks to 2 1/3 innings of one-hit ball from reliever Jose Cordero who was the winning pitcher. While Cordero was on the mound Grand Prairie lit up the scoreboard with seven runs on seven hits including two doubles and a triple. Pelicans starter Daniel Smith lasted just 2 2/3 innings and fell to 0-2. Airhogs RF Derek Nicholson had two doubles in the game and leadoff man Aaron Garza was 3-for-4 with a run scored, three RBI and a stolen base.

Sioux Falls 6, Shreveport-Bossier 5

@ Sioux Falls, SD. Time: 2:45 Attendance: 2,791

HR: SF- Beau Torbert (5); SHR- Dwayne White (1)

After watching a 4-0 lead evaporate, Sioux Falls rallied for a 6-5 win over Shreveport-Bossier. Down 4-1, the Captains scored three in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game and then took a brief 5-4 lead in the seventh when RF Dwayne White hit a solo homer. But the Canaries answered with a RBI single from DH Beau Torbert and a RBI sacrifice fly from CF Reggie Taylor. Torbert also homered in the game and finished 2-for-4 with three RBI. Canaries closer Kris Regas worked 1 1/3 innings and struck out two for his sixth save.
