noun
A challenger. A person who has defeated all rivals. The top contender among FIFA gamers across Canada, ready to step up to the professional level and earn the opportunity to play in eMLS.
ONe shot. ONe opportunity. Would you capture it, or just let it slip?
The time has come to find the ONe.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Monday that the nationwide competition to crown the ONe, in partnership with Alpha Esports, will start on Friday, November 6. Registration is now open at whitecapsfc.com/theONe.
The tournament will be a single elimination, winner-takes-all format with the champion having the chance to challenge Saskatchewan's Alex "Exraa" Gonzalez to become the 'Caps official eMLS athlete for the 2021 season.
"Growing up, not many people would have believed that they could get paid to play FIFA, but now that opportunity presents itself," said Tyler Wilson, Whitecaps FC director of strategic partnerships & innovation. "Last season Exraa proved to be a top contender in eMLS. We know that there is an exceptional amount of FIFA gaming talent across Canada. Who has what it takes to step up, become the ONe, and take on the challenge?"
