Montreal Impact Midfielder Bojan Voted MLS Player of the Week
October 19, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release
NEW YORK - Montreal Impact midfielder Bojan was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Week for the 19th week of the 2020 MLS season.
Bojan scored one goal and registered an assist to help Montreal secure a 2-1 victory over Inter Miami CF at Red Bull Arena on Saturday. Bojan has now tallied three goals and two assists this season. Montreal is eighth in the Eastern Conference standings with 23 points (7-10-2 overall record).
Montreal took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute when Bojan dribbled past a pair of defenders and sent a difficult bouncing shot from well outside the box into the net, beating Miami goalkeeper John McCarthy just inside the right post.
Following a Miami equalizer in the first half, Montreal took the lead for good on Maxi Urruti's 80th minute goal. Bojan collected a Romell Quioto ball inside the box and set up an open Urruti with a quick pass directly in front of goal for a right footed tap in.
Montreal continues action on Saturday when facing New York City FC at Yankee Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+ / TSN / TVA Sports).
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
