October 3, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release

Utah Grizzlies training camp ended tonight with a 5-2 victory by the White team in the second and final Green-White game of the team's camp. The win was propelled by three points each (one goal, two assists) from Jeff Bateman and Jeff MacMillan (both members of last year's team) in front of a capacity crowd at the Acord Ice Center.

The White team started the scoring and tallied three of the first four goals in the game behind Mattias Tjarnqvist, Chris Gobert and MacMillan. Brian Passmore and Bateman scored the other two goals for the White team. The Green team received goals from David Bararuk and Eric Schneider.

For the second straight game, the Green team outshot the White time, this time by a 29-27 margin. Dan Ellis stopped 10 of 11 shots and Peter Hirsch stopped 17 of 18 shots leading the White to victory. Last night's winner, Jason Bacashihua (then a member of the White team), struggled somewhat turning away 10 of 13 shots in taking the loss. Sean Connors played half the game for the Green team stopping 12 of 14 shots.

Each club had two power play chances and each club scored one power play goal (White- Gobert, Green-Schneider).

The Grizzlies will make their final cuts from training camp this weekend and begin to prepare for their season opener a week from today.

Next Game: The Grizzlies open the 2003-04 season on Friday, October 10th when they host the San Antonio Rampage at the 'E' Center at 7:05 PM.
