Blades Receive Experienced D-Man

Estero, FL - The Florida Everblades Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that the Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL) have reassigned defensemen Ryan Van Buskirk to the Everblades for the start of the 2003-04 season.

Van Buskirk (6'2" 220) has spent the better part of his first three professional seasons with the Portland Pirates (AHL) playing in 61 games. The tough defenseman has also played in 75 games for the Richmond Renegades (ECHL) and has amassed 141 penalty minutes over two seasons. He was originally selected by the Phoenix Coyotes (NHL) in the 1998 draft but did not sign a contract and opted back into the draft in 2000 and was then selected by the Washington Capitols in the fourth round (#121 overall). Van Buskirk will join the Blades on Monday.

The Everblades open their 2003-04 Training Camp on Monday, October 6th at 11 AM at TECO Arena. The entire training camp schedule is listed below.

The Time is Now! The Everblades take on the Mississippi Sea Wolves in two preseason contests at TECO Arena on Saturday, October 11 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, October 12 at 3:00 PM. Opening Night at TECO Arena is Friday, October 24th at 7:30 PM.
