Gladiators Open Training Camp Saturday

The Gwinnett Gladiators open training camp for their inaugural season Saturday, October 4th with their first on-ice session beginning at 10:30 a.m.

“We’re excited about getting on the ice,” said Gladiators General Manager Steve Chapman. “After a year of behind the scenes preparations, it’s nice to officially get the season underway.”

Training camp is scheduled to run from Saturday, October 4th thru Thursday, October 16th with on ice sessions at the Arena at Gwinnett Center and the Ice Forum in Duluth.

The Gladiators open camp with 21 players. Additional players will be joining the team from the Chicago Wolves, Milwaukee Admirals, Grand Rapids Griffins and Cleveland Barons training camps in the American Hockey League.

The Gladiators have signed some notable players including Cam Brown a former player and head coach of the Baton Rouge Kingfish. Mark Loeding joins the Gladiators after helping the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies to a Kelly Cup championship last season. Former veteran Mobile Mystick J.P. O’ Connor returns to the organization after spending part of last season with the Long Beach Ice Dogs. Rick Emmitt, who now calls Georgia home, is a nine year pro that will also be on the training camp roster.

“We have a great group of guys,” said Gladiators Head Coach Jeff Pyle, “and our veterans have experience in this league and know how to win.”

Fans are invited to watch the Gladiators first ever on ice session tomorrow when individual game tickets go on sale beginning at 10 a.m. A complete practice schedule and training camp roster follows.
