January 30, 2016 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release

SIOUX FALLS - The Westchester Knicks (17-12), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, rebounded from a loss on the previous day to take down the Eastern Conference leading Sioux Falls Skyforce (22-5), the Miami Heat affiliate, by a score of 110-100.

Travis Trice II broke the ice in the game on the very first possession for Westchester, giving the Knicks an early lead. The Sioux Falls Skyforce answered right back, scoring the next 4 points to regain the lead. The two teams traded baskets over the next eight minutes until Knicks forward Gani Lawal went on a 7-0 run of his own to give Westchester a six-point lead. The Knicks ended the quarter on 9-0 run, leading the Skyforce 29-20 after the first quarter. The Skyforce ended the half on an 8-4 run over the final two minutes to finish the half trailing 54-48.

Westchester held onto their lead for the entire second quarter; however, the home team would come within striking distance several times. Sioux Falls cut the Knicks' lead to two three different times in the period, but Westchester stayed resilient. After their lead was trimmed to two with just over four minutes left, the Knicks went on a 7-0 run to push their lead back to nine. The Skyforce ended the half on an 8-4 run over the final two minutes to head into halftime trailing 54-48.

The Knicks picked up where they left off in the first half, opening up the third quarter on a 9-2 run to push their lead to 13. Westchester held a steady lead for most of the third, with Sioux Falls getting as close as nine. Up by nine with over six minutes left, Westchester ended the quarter by outscoring Sioux Falls 19-13 to take an 86-71 lead into the final 12 minutes.

A day after spoiling a fourth-quarter lead, it appeared as if it might be déjà vu for Westchester. After the Knicks extended their lead to 17, Sioux Falls went on an 18-7 run over the next six minutes to cut Westchester's lead to six. That's as close as the home team would get though, as Westchester used 10 points from Jimmer Fredette over the final five minutes to cruise to a 110-100 win over Sioux Falls.

Westchester was led by Jimmer Fredette, who tied his career-high with 37 points on 56 percent shooting. Gani Lawal had his best game since joining the Knicks, coming off the bench to post a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Darion Atkins filled up the stat sheet, finishing with 14 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals, while Travis Trice II finished with 17 points.

The Skyforce had five players finish in double figures, with Bubu Palo leading the way with 24 points. Seven footer Byron Mullins notched the lone double-double for Sioux Falls, finishing with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

After a brief hiatus, the Westchester Knicks will return home to the Westchester County Center this Friday, Feb. 5 to take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on MSG Network and on the NBA Development League's YouTube channel.
