Maine Celtics News Release

Fort Wayne, IN - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, fall on the road at Fort Wayne Saturday night, 116-111. The Red Claws (14-13) were led by Coty Clarke with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Andre Stringer added a season-high 19 points, and Levi Randolph provided 17 points off the bench. The Mad Ants were led by C.J. Fair, who finished with 27 points and 14 rebounds, and Shayne Whittington, who added 26 points and 13 boards.

The Red Claws started the game slow. Fort Wayne scored the first eight points of the game, before Maine came roaring back, taking a 34-26 lead after the first quarter. In the 2nd, Clarke took over, leading the Claws and helping Maine surge to a 64-58 halftime lead.

The Mad Ants started to take over the game in the 3rd quarter, out-scoring Maine 28-21. C.J. Fair hit a bucket to cut the Claws' lead to three; Anthony Harris hit a driving lay-up to give the Mad Ants an 86-85 lead going into the final period.

In the 4th quarter, Fort Wayne went on an 8-0 run to take a nine point lead. Davion Berry scored 6 straight points for Maine to try to keep the team in the game. Fair hit a tough shot to put the game away, similar to the game-winner he hit at the Portland Expo in the last meeting, on Jan. 23. Omari Johnson and Stringer hit back-to-back three's to cut the deficit to three, but the Red Claws ran out of time.

The Red Claws and Mad Ants will square off again on Tuesday in Fort Wayne. Maine returns home next Saturday, Feb. 6, for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Westchester Knicks. Tickets are on sale now by calling 207-210-6655 or visiting MaineRedClaws.com.
