Erie BayHawks forward Melvin Ejim recorded a game-high 27 points to lead his club to a 100-83 victory over Raptors 905 Saturday evening at Erie Insurance Arena in Erie, Pennsylvania. The contest snapped Raptors 905's franchise-record six-game winning streak.
Erie had a quick start, up 11 midway through the first quarter before Raptors 905 reduced the deficit to three points by the end of the period. The Mississauga club went back down by seven early in the second frame, then went on a 16-2 run to gain its first advantage of the night midway through the quarter and carried a 49-45 lead into halftime.
The third quarter was all BayHawks through the majority of the period as they stretched their lead to 13 points with a 19-2 run in the first seven-and-a-half minutes of the period and led Raptors 905 71-62 at the end of the frame. In the fourth, Raptors 905 came out strong with an 11-2 run in the first two minutes to get the game tied 73-73, but Erie followed that up with a 16-2 run to stretch its lead to 14 points with five minutes to play and stayed ahead the rest of the way.
Leading the BayHawks offensively were Ejim (27), Adreian Payne (26) and Jordan Sibert (17). Nnanna Egwu had a game-high 12 rebounds, while Payne added 11 boards to complete a double-double. Scoring in double digits for Raptors 905 were Melvin Johnson III (22), Bruno Caboclo (19) and Axel Toupane (14). Shannon Scott collected a game-high seven assists.
Erie led Raptors 905 in field goal percentage (46.8-37.9), three-point percentage (44.4-31.0), points in the paint (36-32), second-chance points (12-8) and fast-break points (22-14), while Raptors 905 held the advantage in free throw percentage (77.4-74.1).
Raptors 905 is back in action Friday, February 5 when the club visits the Texas Legends at 8 p.m. ET.
