Friday Recap

Clinton 7 @ Beloit 2

Galveston, Texas native Kyle Rogers (5-8; 6.48) delivered his most impressive outing as a professional, holding Beloit to one unearned run on three hits and a walk while fanning seven in seven strong innings of work to earn the victory for the 17-18 LumberKings.

Third baseman Emerson Frostad (.272 / .359 / .450) gave Clinton an early lead with a first inning two-run homer, his tenth of the year, highlighting a 3-4 outing that also included a double and four RBIs altogether. Frostad's two-run single in the seventh keyed a three-run rally that blew the game open.

Jim Fasano doubled twice and walked once in four plate appearances. His eighth inning two-bagger rounded plated Ben Harrison to round out scoring for Clinton.

Saturday Recap

@ Beloit 6, Clinton 4

The LumberKings jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the fourth when starter Michael Schlact (4.44 ERA) took a combacker off his leg, but stayed in the game and promptly surrendered a two-run homer before getting out of the inning. Sunday Recap

@ Beloit 6, Clinton 5

The LumberKings scored four runs in the final two frames, but it wasn't enough to stage a comeback victory over the Bees.

Brandon Boggs slammed a three-run shot in the eighth for his only hit in four trips and Brandon Cashman, who went 2-4, delivered a solo-shot in the ninth, but the Clinton rally fell short.

Starter Eric Hurley (10-4; 3.81) allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits and three walks in six innings while fanning six, but Beloit got three off of Johnny Lujan (4.10 ERA) in the seventh, giving them enough to hold on.

Andrew Wishy and Casey Benjamin each added 2-4 outings for Clinton. Edwin Vera (4.26) delivered a no-hit inning of relief, but issued one base on balls.
