Bees add new infielder

Burlington, IA (August 1, 2005) - The Kansas City Royals have added infielder Gary Perez to the Burlington Bees roster. Perez joins the Bees from short-season Idaho Falls of the Pioneer League where he was batting .362 with two home runs, 23RBI, eleven doubles, four triples, and 29 runs scored in 36 games with the Chukars. Perez split time between second base and third base, playing 22 games at second and 14 at third. Perez spent the 2004 season with Salcedo in the Dominican Summer League where he earned the team's Player of the Year award from the Royals. He hit .366 with two home runs, 26 RBI, 14 doubles, four triples, 56 runs scored, and 19 stolen bases in 60 games. Adding Perez to the roster pushes the Bees to 23 active players.

Perez will be available, not in the starting lineup for tonight's series finale with Wisconsin at 7:00 at Community Field. The gates open at 6:00 for a Miller Lite Dollar Monday featuring $1 general admission tickets, hot dogs, pizza, popcorn, and 20 oz. bottles of Pepsi products. Cans of Miller products are 2-for-$3 throughout the game and one young fan will win a baseball glove courtesy of Kitchen's Plus. The game will be broadcast live on KBUR AM 1490 and KBKB AM 1360 with the pre-game show starting at 6:40.
