Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The Swing of the Quad Cities, in conjunction with the St. Louis Cardinals, announced a pair of roster moves before Monday's game with the Kane County Cougars. Third baseman Jake Mullinax was activated from the disabled list after missing nearly one month with a left ring finger dislocation, while Simon Williams has been forced on to the disabled list due to a nagging strain to his left hamstring.
Mullinax, a 6-1, 200-pound third baseman from Hesperia, California, has been activated after being out since July 8, when he dislocated his left ring finger while stealing second base against the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Before the injuiry, Mullinax was batting .308 with two home runs and 37 RBI. Mullinax, a 14th-round selection in 2004 out of the University of Nebraska, currently ranks eighth in the Midwest League in hitting. He posted a 17-game hitting streak from May 16 through June 3, tied with Matt Lemanczyk for the longest by a Swing player this season.
Williams heads to the disabled list after appearing in just one game with the Swing since rejoining the team after a three-week stint with Class A-Advanced Palm Beach. Williams played in his only second half game with the Swing, when he drew a walk and reaggravated a hamstring strain when he was thrown out trying to steal after a walk.
