March 1, 2003: Leafs 4 Vs. Bruins 7

The biggest obstacle facing the St. John's Maple Leafs bid to make a Calder Cup post season appearance is that time is slowly running out. Following Saturday night's 7-4 loss to the Providence Bruins at Mile One Stadium and Sunday's action in the American Hockey League, the Baby Leafs now find themselves staring up at yet another team in the Eastern Conference standings. Steve Kariya fired a hat trick to lead Albany past Binghamton 5-3 while Portland did St. John's a favor by beating Springfield 4-1. The task at hand is huge to say the least. As of Monday, the Leafs have 15 games left on their 2002-2003 docket and don't play again until they host defending AHL scoring champ and former Maple Leaf MVP Donald MacLean and the Syracuse Crunch this Friday and Saturday night at Mile One beginning at 7:35pm.
