Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

The Moose Jaw Warriors surrendered two goals 49 seconds apart in the first period and fell 4-1 to the Regina Pats Friday at Mosaic Place.

Regina picked up the game's first goal at 6:19 when Zack Stringer scored on the power-play.  49 seconds later, the Pats Cole Carrier was able to sneak a shot past Warriors goalie Jackson Unger to add to their lead.

Moose Jaw was able to generate pressure late in the period but was not able to convert and went into the first intermission down two goals.

Regina went up by three just over three minutes into the second period when Connor Bedard scored on a Pat rush.

As the second period continued, the Warriors started to create more pressure inside the Regina zone which led to more quality scoring opportunities.

Working on the power-play with four minutes left in the period, Jagger Firkus led a rush across the Regina line and then set up Logan Doust on the right-wing, the 20-year-old put a quick shot past Matthew Kieper to get Moose Jaw on the board.

The Warriors had momentum entering the third period, however, the Pats took it away four minutes into the frame with a power-play goal from Jakub Brook.

As the third continued, the Warriors pressed to get back into the game, they outshot Regina 12-6 in the period but were not able to add to their goal total which resulted in their first loss of the preseason.

These two Trans Canada rivals will finish their preseason schedules Saturday in Queen City.  Catch all the action on Country 100 starting with the PreGame Show at 6:55 pm with James Gallo.
