
Pats Wrap up Pre-Season at the Brandt Centre

Regina, Sask. -ÃÂ The Regina Pats (3-1-1) cap off their pre-season schedule tonight, completing a home-and-home series with the Moose Jaw Warriors (3-1-0) at the Brandt Centre.
The Pats are coming off a 4-1 victory at Mosaic place against the Warriors Friday. The Regiment got goals from Zac Stringer (4), Cole Carrier (5), Connor Bedard (6) and Jakob Brook (1), while Matthew Kieper made 36 saves on 37 shots for his third win this pre-season. The Pats extended their pre-season winning-streak to two games, while the Warriors dropped their first exhibition contest.
Bedard and Stringer each tallied two points on Friday, giving Bedard 10 points in five pre-season games, while Stringer has seven points in three pre-season games. Carrier now has five goals in five pre-season games, and is now riding a three game goal streak.ÃÂ Kieper improved to 3-0 in the pre-season and holds an impressive .945 SV% in four appearances.

Cole Dubinksy and Bedard are now tied for the WHL pre-season lead with 10 points while Bedard leads all skaters in goals with six. The Pats are still without Logan Nijhoff (ANH), Drew Englot (EDM), Ryker Evans (SEA) and Stanislav Svozil (CBJ), while they received Stringer back from the Minnesota Wild rookie camp last night. Nine different players have scored for the Pats in exhibition play, while they have had yet to get a goal from a defenceman. The Pats power play went 2-for-6 last night and have now scored six goals on the man-advantage through five games, running at 24.0%. Despite not scoring a short handed goal in Moose Jaw, their seven short handed goals still ranks first in the WHL.
On the other side, the Moose Jaw Warriors dropped their first game this pre-season with a 4-1 loss last night. They outshot the Pats 37-28, and outshot them 28-14 in the final 40 minutes of play. Their only goal came on the power play with Logan Doust scoring his first of exhibition play. Jackson Unger got the start, and allowed four goals on 28 shots. D-man Denton Mateychuk piled seven shots on goal while Cade Hayes had five shots. They were also strong in the faceoff dot, winning 35 faceoffs to Regina's 22 faceoff wins.ÃÂ The Warriors have defeated Brandon (3-1) and Swift Current twice (6-1 & 5-2).ÃÂ All three of their goaltenders have seen action thus far, and have only given up eight goals against. Their offence has accumulated 15 goals, but it has beenÃÂ scoring by committee for the Warriors as 11 players have scored this pre-season.
