Medicine Hat, AB - The Medicine Hat Tigers are excited to announce they have signed goaltender Zach Zahara ('05) to a Standard WHL Player Agreement.
The Rocky View, AB product was selected by the Tigers in the 8th round, 171st overall in the 2020 WHL Selection Draft. The 6'1 netminder appeared in two games for the AC Avalanche of the AEHL U16 during the 2020-2021 season, going 2-0-0 with a 3.50 GAA and a 0.904 SV%. In 2019-20 Zahara played in 17 contests during regular season, finishing with 6-8-3 record to go along with a 3.36 GAA and a 0.908 SV%.
"Zach is an intelligent, athletic goalie with good size," says Tigers Director of Player Personnel Bobby Fox, "He makes smooth powerful movements, shows good hands and has a high compete level. We'd like to welcome Zach and his family to the Tigers organization."
Zahara is expected to see his first action in a Tigers uniform tonight when the Tigers conclude their preseason with a home contest against the Swift Current Broncos. Doors open at 6pm, with puck drop scheduled for 7pm.
