Walleye Notes
- Past Week Performance: Toledo finished this past week with a 1-1-0-0 record. The week started with an 8-3 loss in Greenville against the Road Warriors. The game was tied at three after two periods but Greenville exploded with five third period goals. On Sunday afternoon, the Walleye shut down the high-powered Greenville attack in a 2-1 overtime win.
- Going for a Quick Pair! Toledo scored two power play goals just 16 seconds apart in the second period Friday night. Harrison Reed collected the first one at 14:20 of the period (a five-on-three power play goal) and Mike Thomas collected his goal at 14:36 (five-on-four power play goal). Toledo finished the night two for three on the power play.
- Overtime Magic Again! For the second consecutive Sunday, Toledo collected an overtime win. Both game-winners were scored by Walleye captain Kyle Rogers. Last week, Rogers scored at 4:18 of the extra session in a 3-2 win over Cincinnati. Rogers did it again at 4:54 of overtime in Greenville on Sunday. It was the fifth game-winning goal this year for Rogers.
- Gametime: The Walleye will play four games in five days this week. The first contest is set for Wednesday morning in Kalamazoo with a 10:30 a.m. face-off. Toledo is 3-3-2 this season against their rivals from the North. The Walleye are 0-2-0 in morning games this season. Friday and Saturday night mark Toledo's return to the Huntington Center with a pair of games against the Wheeling Nailers. The Walleye are 2-2-1 against the Nailers this season but defeated Wheeling 3-0 in the only game played in Toledo (January 13). Sunday afternoon, the Walleye host the Cincinnati Cyclones. Toledo won three consecutive games last week against the Cyclones and have a record of 5-4-1 this year against Cincinnati.
- Promotions: Friday night, the Walleye will welcome former Detroit Red Wing forward Darren McCarty to the Huntington Center! Darren will drop the first puck and will be signing FREE autographs for 45 minutes starting in the first intermission. It is also Mustache Night, brought to you by Vito's Pizza. The first 1,500 fans will receive Vito's coupons and mustaches! Also, the first 2,000 fans through the doors will receive free golf tees. Saturday's game is NASCAR Night Presented by Nationwide Insurance, The AOK Insurance & Financial Services Agency. There will be a Racing Jersey Live Auction Post-Game and take a spin in the racing simulator! The week concludes with another "Kids Day" with the Walleye on Sunday, featuring Design-A-Sign and a post-game skate! It is also Mascot Mania Night brought to you by the Toledo Blade.
