Brampton, ON- - Tyler Sikura scored twice and Toledo took a 6-5 shootout win Friday night in Brampton. Toledo has a season record of 3-1-0-0 and is 3-1-0-0 on the road. In the first period, each team found themselves on the power play multiple times but neither was able to score. Brampton out shot Toledo 13-5 in the opening frame. The second period was a different story as both teams combined to score 6 goals. The Beast took the lead with a goal at the 2:41 mark of the second before Toledo tied the game at 13:03 from Tyler Sikura (3rd). Tyson Spink set up Sikura right at the side of the net for a tip between the pads of Bryan Pitton. Just 14 seconds later, AJ Jenks rocked a wrist shot into the back of the net for his 3rd goal of the season. Toledo swelled the lead to 3-1 when Dane Walters (1st) deflected a blue line shot from Jenks in for a power play goal at 17:22. Two goals back to back from the Beast in the final minute evened the score at three heading to the third period. Following a Brampton goal, Tyler Sikura's second goal of the night at 4:36 evened the score at four. Only a minute and twenty seconds later Carter Sandlak scored his first goal of the season to give the Walleye lead to 5-4. Brampton used a late power play to tie the game and send it into overtime. It was chance after chance in overtime with both goaltenders coming up with great saves to send the game into a shootout. Kyle Bonis gave the Walleye a lead in the shootout and AJ Jenks netted the second as the Walleye outscored the Beast 2-1 to pick up the win. Walleye Notes : Goaltender Cal Heeter stopped 37 of the 42 shots he faced and has a record of 2-0-0-0 on the season. Heeter denied two of three Brampton shooters to secure the win.
