Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY -The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that forward Justin Kea and defenseman Paul Geiger have been reassigned to Elmira from Rochester. The two players are expected appear in the Jackals lineup tonight for the team's home opener against Norfolk.
Kea, 22, was the third round pick, 73rd overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2012 NHL Draft. The Woodville, Ontario native has appeared in 52 games for the Jackals over the last two season, with the majority coming in 2014-15. During his time with the Jackals, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound forward has 18 points (9g, 9a).
Geiger, 24, is in his first full professional season, after a four-year career at Clarkson University from 2012-16, where he was a teammate with current Jackals forward Todd Christian. He served as the captain at Clarkson as a junior and senior and in his 150 career games, the Stouffville, Ontario native put up 51 points (13g, 38a). After finishing his senior season in 2015-16, Geiger joined the AHL's Albany Devils and had two points (1g, 1a) and a +3 rating in nine games at the end of the season.
In corresponding roster moves, the Jackals have released defenseman Chris Joseph from his SPC and moved forward Charlie Mosey to the ECHL reserve list.
