Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans defeated the Atlanta Gladiators on Friday night by a score of 3-1 at Allen Event Center to end the Americans four game homestand.
After a scoreless first period, Allen scored twice in the second frame. Greger Hanson lit the lamp at 3:31 of the second period putting home a rebound on a slapshot from the left circle for his team leading third goal of the season, from Aaron Gens and Chad Costello. Then Spencer Asuchak put one home for his first of the year from Chad Costello and Greger Hanson to give Allen a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. Allen held a slight lead in shots on goal 25-22
The game remained 2-0 Allen until late in the third period when Atlanta would cash in seconds after their power play would expire, as Thomas Frazee put one home from the left of the crease to make the score 2-1 Allen. Atlanta would pull their goalie for the extra attacker in the final minute and Allen would make them pay as Spencer Asuchak, scored his second of the game and second of the season to make it 3-1 Americans, and give Allen a split in the two-game set.
"We wanted to make up for our bad play on Wednesday," said Chad Costello following the win. "I don't think any of us slept well on Wednesday night and we couldn't wait to get another shot at these guys. Give them credit, they work hard, but tonight we worked a little harder.
The Americans start a four-game road trip next Tuesday night in Tulsa. Allen will play next weekend in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis and Kalamazoo before returning back to Allen Event Center on November 5th against Alaska.
