Head-To-Head - The Monarchs and Royals will face-off for the first time this season in the first of 10 meetings between the North Division rivals. Last season, the Monarchs and Royals played 10 games as well, with the Monarchs taking a 4-6-0-0 record out of the series. Reading was one of two teams the Monarchs had a losing record against in 2015-16 (Toledo).

Where We Stand - The Monarchs enter tonight's game in a tie for fourth place in the North Division with the Wheeling Nailers, while Reading enters the night in a first-place tie with the Adirondack Thunder (4 points).

Spreading the Wealth - The Royals have used their depth to produce their first two wins of the season, as 12 separate skaters have recorded points already this season, with seven of them scoring at least one goal. Olivier Labelle leads the team in goals scored, scoring in both of Reading's games.

Sin Bin - The Monarchs have stayed out of the penalty box for the most part this season, taking only two trips to the bin for a total of seven penalty minutes. The 3.5 PIM/game for the Monarchs is good for the lowest average in the ECHL. Reading, however, leads the North Division with 30 penalty minutes, good for ninth-most in the league, and their 15 PIM/game is the sixth-most in the league.

Special Teams - The Royals sit atop the ECHL with a 57.1% success rate on the power play on the young season, converting four times in their first seven opportunities with the man-advantage, while the Monarchs are one of 10 teams to not score on the power play early in the season. Defensively, the Monarchs are one of 10 teams in the ECHL who have not conceded a power-play goal, while Reading has allowed four tallies when short-handed (69.2%).

Light it Early - In their first two games, the Monarchs have yet to score a first period goal. Reading comes in netting four goals in the first period so far this season.
