Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The second annual Pink in the Rink Night took place on Saturday night. The Victoria Salmon Kings and Las Vegas Wranglers clashed in the third contest of a four-game set. Goaltender Julien Ellis suited up in net for the Kings while the Wranglers countered with Glenn Fisher.

The Salmon Kings got on the scoreboard first when Adam Taylor puts home his second of the season. Taylor came down the right wing side on a 2-on-1 with Dan Gendur. Taylor decided to keep the puck and fired a shot. Fisher made the initial save, but Taylor kept with it and put it in after a few tries. The Salmon Kings went into the dressing room with the lead 1-0.

Midway through the second period the Wranglers tied up the game when a Brandon Straub point shot found its way through a maze of players and hit the crossbar and deflected into the back of the net. That would round out the scoring and the teams would be tied 1-1 through 40 minutes.

The Wranglers took the lead four minutes into the third period when Chris Ferraro scored his 16th of the season. Kelly Czuy took a shot from the slot that went over the net. The puck took a big bounce off the end glass and found the stick of Hugo Carpentier. He passed the puck to Ferraro in the slot and the Wranglers' leading scorer put it over a diving Ellis for the game winning goal. Wranglers 2 Salmon Kings 1.

Victoria finished 0/5 = 0% on the power play, while Las Vegas finished 0/5= 0%. The Wranglers outshot the Salmon Kings 30-24.

This four-game set ends tomorrow night as the Salmon Kings host the Wranglers puck dropping at 5:05PM. The Salmon Kings will then go on the road for 11 games. Their next home game will be on March 11, 2009 beginning a four game set with Ontario. For tickets, call 220-7777 or visit www.selectyourtickets.com.
