Colorado Eagles News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - Eagles defenseman Adrian Veideman scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, while forward Trent Daavettila registered a three-point night as the Eagles knocked off the Rapid City Rush 5-3 on Friday.

Colorado fell behind just 5:04 into the contest when Rush forward Jimmy Bonneau dumped a puck from center-ice that deflected off of Eagles goaltender Eric Levine and into the back of the net to make it 1-0 Rapid City.

Colorado would deliver an answer just over four minutes later when forward Kyle Ostrow fielded a loose puck in the right circle and wired it past Rush goaltender Danny Battochio to knot the game at 1-1.

The Eagles would grab their first lead of the night when Veideman carried the puck through the left circle and beat Battochio upstairs to give Colorado the 2-1 advantage with 6:15 remaining in the opening period.

Trailing 2-1 at the break, Rapid City would find an equalizer with 8:57 left in the second period, as forward Ryan Misiak stuffed home a rebound on the powerplay from the top of the crease to square the score at 2-2.

Despite being outshot by the Rush 15-5 in the middle frame, Colorado would again take a one-goal lead into the intermission when defenseman Sean Zimmerman carried the puck down the end-line and fed forward Jesse Mychan in the low-slot, beating Battachio and giving Colorado a 3-2 lead with 1:08 left in the second.

Heading into the third period Colorado would stretch their lead to 4-2, as Vedieman snapped a wrister from the circle through traffic, beating Battochio to make it 4-2 Eagles with just 6:33 gone in the third.

A turnover by the Eagles in their own zone would allow Rapid City to spring a quick odd man rush, resulting in a Misiak goal that pulled Rapid City to within one at 4-3.

The Rush would pull Battachio in favor of the extra attacker in the final minutes of the contest, but Daavettila would force a turnover at the red line that fellow forward Darryl Bootland would shoot into the empty net to give the Eagles the 5-3 victory.

The Eagles return home to wrap-up their three-game set against the Rush on Saturday, February 13th at 7:05pm at the Budweiser Events Center.

Tickets for groups of 15 or more start at just $14 per seat and can be purchased by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
