Quad City Mallards News Release

TULSA, Okla. (February 13, 2016) - Raphael Bussieres scored his second power play goal of the game at 2:41 of overtime to give the Quad City Mallards (22-21-5) a wild come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the host Tulsa Oilers (24-17-5) Saturday night.

Bussieries, who like teammate Matt Carey picked up an assist as well as a pair of goals, blasted the game winner from the left wing circle to give the Mallards a split of a two-game weekend series in Tulsa.

After the Mallards roared back from a 2-0 deficit with three straight third period goals, it seemed sudden death would not be necessary but, with just 54 seconds left in regulation and the Oilers up 6-on-4 after going on the man advantage and pulling goaltender Kevin Carr, Connor Kucera's blue blast knotted the score at three.

The Oilers spent most of the third period on the receiving end before Kucera briefly stalled the Mallards' momentum. Carey scored the Mallards' first goal from the top of the right wing circle on the power play at 4:19 of the third. Bussieres tied the game from the right wing circle at 11:39. At 15:44 Carey gave the Mallards their first lead by wristing in the only even strength goal of the evening.

The Oilers had seized the initiative with a pair of second period power play goals. Dan DeSalvo backhanded home a rebound to open the scoring at 2:14 of the second. Axel Blomqvist's tip-in stretched the Tulsa lead to 2-0 at 7:21.

The Mallards earlier Saturday placed forward Kevin Henderson on the team's suspended list.

The Mallards are next in action next Tuesday night on the road against the Wichita Thunder. The Mallards next play at home next Friday, February 19 at 7:05 p.m. against the Cincinnati Cyclones. Next Friday also brings the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK College Night.
