South Carolina Stingrays News Release
TONIGHT'S GAME
The South Carolina Stingrays visit the Wichita Thunder for the second straight evening. The Stingrays earned a 5-1 victory last night at the Intrust Bank Arena thanks to four second period goals. South Carolina has collected points in six straight games, going 5-0-1-0 during that run. With the Stingrays win last night and Atlanta's shootout loss to Orlando, South Carolina moved into second place in the South Division. The club concludes a four-game road trip this evening before returning home to face rival Greenville Tuesday night in North Charleston.
WATCH PARTIES AT KING STREET GRILLE-NORTHWOODS
King Street Grille-Northwoods has become the Watch Party Destination for Stingrays road games during the 2015-2016 season, including tonight's game. Fans 21 and up may enjoy a special offer of $3 Drafts, including Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Shocktop and Landshark during all Stingrays Watch Parties at King Street Grille.
HELPFUL HERBIE
Forward Caleb Herbert was reassigned to South Carolina before Friday's game from the club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hershey Bears. He made his impact felt immediately, scoring a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in the 5-1 victory last night. Herbert, a 5th round selection of the Washington Capitals in 2010, had 19 goals last season as rookie with the Stingrays. He had two assists in 23 games with Hershey this year.
DEBLOIS IS BACK IN TOWN
In addition to Herbert, the Stingrays also received forward Derek DeBlois from the American Hockey League. DeBlois, who was on a try-out with Lake Erie, signed with the club, and was loaned to the Stingrays. He had an assist on Herbert's game-winning goal. As a rookie last season, DeBlois led the club with 21 goals.
ELLIS BREAKING OUT
Brendan Ellis has quietly been one of South Carolina's top defenders this season. Ellis added a goal last night, bringing him to 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) on the season for South Carolina. Ellis is in his first full season with the Stingrays after missing last year due to injury.
CAMERON LOVES FEBRUARY
Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and the month of love has been kind to Brett Cameron. The rookie forward has points in each of the club's five games in February and hold a five-game point streak. Cameron is second on the team in goals (15), assists (21) and points (36).
