Valley Recalled, Koci Assigned

WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers announce today that the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League have recalled Mike Valley and David Koci has been assigned to the Nailers from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Valley is the reigning East Coast Hockey League Goalie of the Week. Last week Valley was 3-0-0 with a ..939 save percentage and a 1.95 goals against average. For the season Valley has a record of 5-6-1 with a .900 save percentage and 3.73 goals against average. Two of Valley's wins are in shootouts where he has made nine saves on nine shots faced. This is his first call-up to the AHL this season and is the third time he has played in the AHL in his career. Valley played 26 games for the Syracuse Crunch in the 1998-99 season and one game for Syracuse in the 1999-00 season.

Koci will join the Nailers for the second time this season. He has played seven games for the Nailers this season without registering a point and accumulating 12 penalty minutes. Last season was Koci's first in professional hockey and he split his time between Wheeling and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The Nailers play in Dayton on Friday night and host the Peoria Rivermen at home on Saturday and Sunday. The first 2,500 fans in attendance on Sunday will receive a Pittsburgh Penguins calendar and will be able to skate with several Nailers players after the game.
