Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League will play two games this weekend, including a home game on Friday night against the Fresno Falcons. Friday's game is Team Poster night at Centennial Garden. Saturday's game is on the road in Fresno at 7:30pm.
Everyone in attendance on Friday night will receive a team poster, sponsored by Time Warner Cable, Real Rock 104.3 and the SBC Pacific Bell Smart Yellow Pages. The oversize, full-color prints feature each member of the 2002-03 squad. Time Warner Cable will be hosting Family Night tonight, as subscribers will receive $5.00 admission per person by presenting the coupon available in their cable bill.
Friday is also the first Colonel Claw'd's Kids Club game of the season. All members of the kids club receive free admission to six games throughout the 2002-03 season, as well as special kids club benefits. Colonel Claw'd's Kids Club is sponsored by Time Warner Cable, The Bakersfield Californian, and John's Incredible Pizza.
In addition, Friday is the first Classroom Champions Night of the season. The Condors Classroom Champions program is one of the school programs developed by the Condors to encourage and reward students for outstanding attendance. Students who attended a Classroom Champions assembly during this school year were given vouchers for free admission to Friday's game, and must redeem those vouchers at the Centennial Garden box office. CBS 29, McDonald's and Big Valley Construction sponsor the Classroom Champions program. For more information on the Colonel Claw'd's Kids Club or the Condors Classroom Champions program, contact Condors Community Relations Director John Ayre at 324-PUCK (7825).
As a special treat for Friday's game, Joe Cannon from the U.S. Marine Corps will return to sing the National Anthem. The Condors success at home has coincided with his performances, as the team is 2-0, outscoring the opposition 8-2 in those games this season. Also, Paul Willett and Kevin St. Pierre will be honored at center ice during the first intermission to receive their awards for being selected as the WCHL Player and Goaltender of the Week, respectively.
On Sunday, the Condors will host a public skate at Centennial Garden from 1:00 - 3:00pm. Admission is just $7.00, with skate rental available for $3.00.
Single-game tickets are available through the Centennial Garden Box Office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location. Season tickets and group outings may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825), or by visiting the Condors office at Centennial Garden.
Condor Droppings. . . Condors Head Coach Paul Kelly made good on his promise Thursday afternoon. After vowing to shave his head if his team won all three games last weekend, the Condors rolled through Fresno with a pair of victories and came back home to defeat Idaho for the third win. He headed to The Hot Spot, a salon owned by former Condors defenseman Glen Mears and his wife, Amber, who shaved him down and added a little bleach, just for good measure. The Hot Spot is located at 4200 Gosford Rd.
