Express Acquire Stazyer from Mississippi

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Express acquired left winger Blair Stayzer from the Mississippi Sea Wolves for future considerations, it was announced today by Express Head Coach and General Manager Perry Florio. Stayzer comes to the Express after playing in 12 games with the Sea Wolves this season picking up three points (1 G, 2 A) and 19 penalty minutes.

"Blair is a player who is really going to help the team in many ways." said Florio. "With the injuries to our forwards right now, Blair is filling a needed position on the wing for us. In addition, he brings a physical style of play to the team, which fits in nicely with what we try to accomplish each night on the ice."

Stazyer is in his third season in the East Coast Hockey League. The 22-year-old Ontario native began his professional career with the Johnstown Chiefs in 2000-01, picking up 104 PIM and four points in 37 games. Last season, the left-hand shooting winger saw action in 41 games with the Chiefs, picking up nine points, and 100 PIM. He also played in four games in the American Hockey League with the St. John Flames. The former seventh round draft pick of the Calgary Flames in 1999 signed with Mississippi as a free-agent in August. Prior to joining the Johnstown Chiefs, Stayzer spent four seasons with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League, combining to score 70 points in 221 games, and picking up 426 PIM.
