Sea Wolves Battle Kingfish for Coca-Cola Cup

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Sea Wolves and Baton Rouge Kingfish are proud to announce Coca-Cola Bottlers in Gulfport and Baton Rouge have placed the Coca-Cola Cup up for grabs between the two teams. The team with the most points during the 12 head-to-head games during the regular season series, will be presented the Coca-Cola Cup on March 25 in Biloxi.

"We wanted to create additional interest and enthusiasm behind Sea Wolves hockey," said Doug Price, Coast Coca-Cola's Cold Drink Manager. "We are proud to be a promotional partner with the Sea Wolves, and we are hopeful that Gulf Coast area fans will take special interest in this new rivalry between the Sea Wolves and Kingfish."

"It's tremendous that Coca-Cola has stepped up and placed the Cup on the line between the Sea Wolves and Kingfish," said Bo McMurphy, President of the Sea Wolves. "The games with Baton Rouge will take on an added dimension in the rivalry. It's exciting for the teams and fans with the Coca-Cola Cup on the line."

"(The Cup) renews an intense rivalry between us and the Sea Wolves," said Barrett Ortego, Assistant General Manager of the Kingfish. "I think it will help build something that the fans will enjoy and get involved with."

The Coca-Cola Cup will travel to every game of the challenge and will be on display at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, November 24 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum as the Kingfish make a visit.

Mississippi leads the battle for the Coca-Cola Cup, four points to none. The points are distributed as follows: two points for a victory, one point for an overtime or shootout loss. In the event of a tie in standings, the teams will use the current league tie breaking system to determine a winner.
