Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the East Coast Hockey League today announced that the organization has traded the rights to centerman, Shawn Maltby, to the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies for future considerations. Maltby (26) played portions of five seasons with the Storm dating back to his rookie year, 1997-98. Last season, Maltby scored 23 goals and 46 points and picked up 145 penalty minutes in 56 games with Toledo before being called up to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, where he played 14 games. Maltby recently returned to North America after beginning this season in Britain.

In a separate transaction, the Storm picked up right wing, Josh Maser, in a trade with the Baton Rouge Kingfish for future considerations. Maser, 6' 1/199 (23), is a third year pro, who racked up 275 penalty minutes in his rookie season with the Austin Ice Bats in the (then-) Western Professional Hockey League. Last year, in 54 games with the Bakersfield Condors, Maser picked up two assists and 173 pims. This year, Maser played 3 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones, including one against the Toledo Storm on October 26 when he picked up a fighting major for his tilt with Storm defenseman, Brandon Fleenor. Maser was released by Cincinnati and claimed by Baton Rouge prior to today's trade.

In yet another transaction, the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League re-called defenseman, Miroslav Durak, from the Storm today. Durak came off the 30-day injured reserve on Wednesday and scored the Storm's first goal-his first as a professional-in the team's 4-2 victory over the Arkansas Riverblades.
