Valicevic, Reirden keep Ducks thinking about playoffs

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Rob Valicevic collected a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks to a 7-3 victory over the Cleveland Barons Tuesday at Gund Arena.

Valicevic, who finished with three points, scored late in the second period to supply the Ducks with a 4-2 lead and completed the scoring with his team-leading eighth goal on the power play 18:54 into the final period off a feed from Mark Popovic, who finished with a career-high three assists.

Todd Reirden added a pair of goals and Peter Podhradsky and Jonathan Hedstrom each had a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who improved to 6-1-0-0 in their last seven games, outscoring the opposition 29-15 in that stretch.

Ilja Bryzgalov made 24 saves to earn the win for Cincinnati, which moved to within six points of Milwaukee for the 10th and final post-season berth in the Western Conference.

The Ducks, who snapped a four-game road winless streak, improved to 5-2-0-0 against the Barons this season, including 2-1-0-0 in Cleveland.

Ryan Kraft scored twice for the Barons, who snapped a three-game winning streak with their first loss in six games at home.

Seamus Kotyk gave up four goals on 16 shots after replacing Vesa Toskala in the second period and suffered the loss.
