Calder Cup To Tour The Tier

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Senators announced today that the Calder Cup championship trophy, awarded annually to the American Hockey League playoff champion, will be touring the Southern Tier Thursday and Friday.

The trophy is a making its annual trek through many cities in the 28-team league and will call Binghamton its home for a 24-hour period later this week. Upon its arrival, the trophy will initially be on display at the Oakdale Mall Thursday night from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday with select Senators players on hand to greet fans.

Friday, the Calder Cup will begin the day at Dick's Sporting Goods at Town Square Mall – Vestal from 9:30 a.m. – noon. From 3:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m., fans can catch a glimpse of the AHL's championship trophy at The Hockey Shop, 1146 Upper Front Street, Binghamton.

The Calder Cup will then make its final stop during its Southern Tier tour at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena Friday night, March 7th, when the Binghamton Senators take on the Albany River Rats in a key East Division battle. The trophy will be on display on the main concourse during that night's festivities at the Arena.

With 18 games remaining, the Senators enter another four- game in five night stretch beginning Wedne sday versus Rochester and Friday against the Albany River Rats (7:05 p.m. both nights at the Arena). Tickets for these, and all remaining regular season home games, are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets, the Arena box office, the Center Ice Team Shop at Metrocenter, or by calling the Sens Hotline at 722-SENS (7367).
