Utah Grizzlies News Release

Stockton, California - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie announced today several roster moves as the team prepares for their three-game-in-three night road trip this weekend in California.

Scorer Jeff Miles has been returned from the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals after three games. Prior to his promotion on December 27th, the University of Vermont product scored 12 goals and tallied 18 assists for 30 points in 28 games with Utah. On December 3 in Victoria, he recorded his first professional hat trick, scoring three goals in the third period as the Grizzlies rallied, 5-3, past the Salmon Kings. Miles also tallied eight of his 12 total Utah goals in the third period. At the time of his departure, he was tied for the team lead with seven multi-point games, and also had thirteen power-play points (five goals, eight assists.)

Bad news though for Utah on the injury front: star goaltender Alfie Michaud has been placed on 7-Day IR along with defensive scorer Tom Reimann (four goals, 23 assists in 31 games.)

Needing another goaltender, the Grizzlies are expected to once again sign BYU product Tamio Stehrenberger (TOMMIE-o STIR-ehn-burger) as an emergency back-up. With Stehrenberger in uniform this year, Utah has a record of 6-0, despite the fact that he has never appeared in a game. The last two seasons, the 25-year-old posted a 38-10-5 record in Provo.

The Grizzlies return home Wednesday to host the Long Beach Ice Dogs at the E-Center. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Utah plays tonight in Stockton, Saturday in San Diego and Sunday in Long Beach.
