Ice Pilots Lose 6-2 vs Gwinnett

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots lost to the Gwinnett Gladiators on Friday night 6-2 at the Pensacola Civic Center to drop their record to 11-17-3 for 25 points. Gwinnett improved their record to 19-6-4 for 42 points.

Pete Gardiner would score the first goal of the game for the Ice Pilots on the power play deflecting a shot from in front of the net by Ice Pilots defenseman David Turon at the 8:27 mark of the first period to give the Ice Pilots a 1-0 lead. Gwinnett would tie the game at one only thirteen seconds later on a goal by Derek Nesbitt.

Jeff Campbell would give Gwinnett a 2-1 lead scoring a goal at the 3:02 mark of the second period. Gwinnett would than score four goals in the third period with Milan Gajic scoring a hattrick and Jeff Campbell scoring his second of the game. Mark Rooneem would score for the Ice Pilots in the third period as Gwinnett won 6-2.

The Ice Pilots had 32 shots on goal, 11 penalty minutes and went 1-6 on the power play. Gwinnett had 36 shots on goal, 15 penalty minutes and went 0-3 on the power play. Todd Ford was the losing goalie for the Ice Pilots and Sean Fields picked up the win in goal for Gwinnett.

The Ice Pilots will begin an eight game road trip on Saturday night at Florida at 6:30 p.m. central time.
