Utah Drops Finale In Alaska

Anchorage, Alaska - The Alaska Aces defeated the Utah Grizzlies 8-4 Sunday night in Anchorage. Alaska jumped up 1-0 2:09 into the first period on a power-play goal and made it 2-0 1:04 later.

Trailing 3-0 entering the second period, Utah's Dennis Packard added his first of two goals on the night as Utah cut the deficit to two 3:26 into the period. Alaska added two more in 28 seconds at 9:59 of the second and 10:27 to make it 5-1 and get some breathing room back heading to the second intermission.

James Sixsmith scored 42 seconds into the third period to make the game 6-2 on his fourth of the year. Trailing 7-2, Utah added two quick goals spanning 1:36 from Vladimir Nikiforov and another one from Packard to make the score 7-4 late in the third.

Mike Walsh had two assists in the game for the Grizzlies along with Andy Sertich in a losing cause.

Utah returns to the E-Center to open a five-game home stand Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22 hosting Las Vegas in a rematch of last year's conference finals. Face-off both nights is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
