Grizzlies Fall In Alaska

Anchorage, Alaska - The Alaska Aces scored two goals in the final two minutes of regulation to extend a 2-1 lead and defeat the Utah Grizzlies (6-5) 4-1 Saturday night in Anchorage.

Utah held a 1-0 lead for 28 minutes and 52 seconds in the game after Tim Verbeek (5) gave Utah a 1-0 lead 1:12 into the first period with assists going to Tom May and Vladimir Nikiforov.

Alaska's Luke Erickson took control for Alaska in the second period scoring consecutive goals to give the Aces a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission.

In the third period, Utah was unable to get anything past Alaska goaltender Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux and Alaska added two goals (one empty-net) in the final 1:34 to defeat the Grizzlies 4-1.

Mike Mole stopped 25 of 28 shots for Utah in goal.

The Grizzlies and Alaska wrap up their three-game series Sunday. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. mountain time.

Utah returns to the E-Center to open a five-game home stand Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22 hosting Las Vegas in a rematch of last year's conference finals.
