Wranglers Rout Steelheads 7-1

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Idaho Steelheads 7-1 in front 4,635 fans at the Orleans Arena on Saturday night. Defenseman Jeff May scored twice and set up two more goals in the six-goal win. Forward Mike Hamilton scored a shorthanded goal and dished out two assists. Captain Peter Ferraro registered a season-high three assists. Forward Justin Taylor netted two goals, including a power-play tally to cap off the night. Forwards Chris Korchinski and Chris Ferraro also scored in the victory. Goalie John DeCaro stopped 24 of 25 Idaho shots in the lop-sided win. Las Vegas will play in Phoenix on Tuesday at 6:05 PM.

Las Vegas scored the lone goal of the first period as defenseman Jeff May tallied just 5:17 into the game. May's shorthanded goal was set up by Tyler Mosienko and Shawn Limpright. Las Vegas led 1-0 after one period of play.

The Wranglers erupted for three goals in the middle period. May scored his second of the night just 50-seconds into the second period for the 2-0 lead. Las Vegas made it 3-0 just 41-seconds later as Justin Taylor scored his second goal of the year. Idaho countered to pull within a pair of goals at 2:41. Forward Ben Nelson scored the team's only goal of the night to cut the Wranglers lead to 3-1. With 3:03 left in the period, the Wranglers struck for their second shorthanded tally of the night. Mike Hamilton took a pass from Gerard Miller and went in alone for a breakaway. Hamilton lifted his third goal of the season past Rejean Beauchemin for the 4-1 Las Vegas lead.

The Wranglers tacked on three more in the third period. Chris Feraro and Chris Korchinski scored just 16-seconds apart to open up a 6-1 lead. Justin Taylor netted his second of the night at 8:26 for the 7-1 final.
