Prince George, BC- In a nail-biting showdown at the CN Centre, the Prince George Cougars showcased their resilience, clinching a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Swift Current Broncos. With an outstanding performance between the pipes, goaltender Ty Young's 37 saves proved instrumental in securing the victory.

The first period saw both teams trading chances, with a remarkable save from Reid Dyck on Zac Funk and a near miss off the post from Josh Fluker. The intensity was palpable, with the shots even at 12-12 after twenty minutes.

At 2:23 into the second period, Koehn Ziemmer ignited the scoreboard, capitalizing on a setup from linemates Carlin Dezainde and Riley Heidt.

However, the Broncos responded on the power play at 11:27, as Josh Filmon, a New Jersey Devil prospect, seized the opportunity to level the playing field with his second goal of the season.

The third period witnessed a pivotal moment on the man advantage at 7:34, when Ziemmer's shot was expertly re-directed by Zac Funk, securing his eighth goal of the season, and propelling the Cougars ahead 2-1.

Swift Current unleashed a barrage of chances, but Ty Young stood tall, thwarting every attempt, and cementing the Cougars' triumph.

Ty Young's heroics earned him his fifth win of the 2023-2024 season. The final score stood at 2-1 in favour of Prince George.
