Hitmen Fall to Warriors 5-3

Moose Jaw, SK - The Calgary Hitmen continued their five-game tour of the WHL's East Division tonight in Moose Jaw against the Warriors. Three early third period goals for Moose Jaw would seal the deal on a 5-3 victory over Calgary.

Moose Jaw would open the game scoring with a tally from Owen Berge. It would be followed up with a power play goal from Lyden Lakovic to give the home team a two go lead heading into the second period. The second would belong to Calgary courtesy of the power play. Chase Valliant got things started scoring his first of the season to put Calgary within one. Oliver Tulk would score his second of the season and second power play goal to tie the game headed into the final frame.

Brayden Yager and Brayden Schuurman scored 37 seconds apart in the third to regain Moose Jaw's two goal lead. Jagger Firkus would follow up with one more to make it 5-2 heading into the final minutes. Calgary would net one more with Ethan Moore's first of the season, but it wouldn't be enough with Moose Jaw holding off Calgary to win 5-3.

Calgary outshot Moose Jaw 35 -28. Alex Garret made his second start of the season, making 23 saves. Calgary now sits with a record of 2-4-0-0,

Calgary will now to travel to Regina tomorrow (Oct. 11), before closing out the tour with Prince Albert (Oct. 13) and Saskatoon (Oct. 14). Calgary will then have one more road stop in Lethbridge on Oct. 18 before finally returning to Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday, Oct. 20 to host the defending WHL Champion Seattle Thunderbirds in a 7:00 p.m. start.
