Two Goals from Hargrove Not Enough as Bears Beat Bruins 3-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Hershey Bears Saturday night 3-2, putting an end to their four-game winning streak. The P-Bruins got both their goals from Colton Hargrove while Jordan Binnington made his second start of the season between the pipes.
The first period got off to a fast paced start with Providence jumping out to an early lead. At 6:20 while on the power play, Austin Czarnik shot the puck from the right circle that Hargrove deflected towards Parker Milner. He made the initial save, but Hargrove got his own rebound and put it in the open net for his first goal of the season. That 1-0 lead would not last long, as Hershey responded exactly 100 seconds later on a power play of their own. Travis Boyd won a battle for the puck in the corner and sent it out to former Bruin Chris Bourque at the point. His slap-shot was deflected in front by Liam O'Brien to tie the score as the teams headed to the locker room knotted 1-1.
Providence struggled offensively in the second getting just four shots on goal in the period. Hershey held a 25-10 shot advantage through 40 minutes and were able to capitalize on the scoreboard as well. After Bourque made a nice play to keep the puck in the zone, he fed the puck to Riley Barber at the right circle. His wrist shot was saved by Binnington, but Boyd poked at the loose puck in the crease to give Hershey a 2-1 lead at 13:43. The play was reviewed, but the call on the ice stood and Providence trailed by one after 40 minutes.
Hargrove would not let the Bruins go down quietly, using defense to create offense at 7:21. After the stealing the puck near the attacking zone, he got the puck to Czarnik who held the zone. He passed back to Hargrove who snapped home his second goal of the night and second goal of the season to tie the score 2-2. However his efforts would not be enough, as Connor Hobbs' first pro power play goal at 13:29 gave the Bears a 3-2 win.
Binnington stopped 25 of 28 shots while Milner stopped 18 of 20. Providence was 1-7 on the power play and 3-6 on the penalty kill. The P-Bruins are back in action Friday when they return home for a 7:05 pm face off against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
