San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 27, 2017) - The San Antonio Rampage (6-1-0-0) defeated the San Jose Barracuda (3-4-0-0) 3-1 on Friday at the AT&T Center. Rampage netminder Ville Husso collected a season-high 38 saves, earning the First Star of the Game, while San Antonio's penalty-kill unit shut the door on San Jose's eight power-play opportunities.
Rocco Grimaldi opened the scoring in the first frame as the Rampage took advantage of a 5-on-3 power-play opportunity at 6:44. Grimaldi cleaned up a loose puck off Samuel Blais' rebound in front of San Jose's net and flipped it past goalie Antoine Bibeau for the game's first tally. The remainder of the period went scoreless as San Antonio took its 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
San Jose knotted the game at one at the 13-minute mark of the second period when Daniel O'Regan found the back of the net off a rebound. But 13 seconds later, the Rampage responded as Felix Girard netted his second goal of the season for a 2-1 advantage.
San Antonio shut out San Jose in the final 20 minutes of play, while the Rampage added an empty-net goal from Duncan Siemens with 27 seconds remaining in the contest.
